When should I start recruiting for women’s golf?


www.athleticscholarships.net College golf recruiting has become a major international industry with huge international, national and region tournament recruits host some of the best young golf talent from around the world. With so many tournament options it can be easy to lose focus on what is most important when going through the recruiting process. You can’t expect to get recruited to play college golf unless you are playing an extensive summer schedule. This doesn’t mean you need to be playing in every major international junior circuit but you need to be playing in every tournament you can. The only way a coach can really evaluate your talent is by seeing your tournament results. If you have the points and means to travel and play in the biggest junior tournaments of course these can be a huge benefit in the college golf recruiting process. It is critical that you pick the tournaments that will be best for you. Look at the courses that are used and try and find a course that fits your game. If you are a really good ball striker look for a narrow desert golf course. If you are good around the greens, look for a course with really sloped greens where your short game can save you strokes. If you are going to be able to play in multiple big tournaments each year try and select a wide range of courses so a coach can get a good idea of what kind of player you are on all types of courses. 2011 Men’s and Women’s Golf Championship Recap


Shakespeares…Flat Branch…and Mizzou Tiger country…All surroundings for The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia, Missouri — host of the 2011 Big 12 Women’s Golf championship. The Show Me State felt like home for visitors from the Lone Star State, as the Texas Longhorns clinched the squad’s first women’s golf team championship since 2004. Sophomore Madison Pressel led the way for UT and shot a championship-record low 66 in the second round. The Boca Raton, Florida native sank an eagle in each round and nabbed a total of 10 birdies throughout the tournament. Pressel earned Big 12 Women’s Golf player of the year after the event. Texas A&M came to Columbia as the defending champs, and shot well throughout the tournament. Aggie freshman Katerina Ruzickova tied for second overall with a final score of 3-under par. Oklahoma State’s Josephine Janson also tied for 2nd at 3-under. The Aggies finished second overall as a team, just three strokes behind Texas. Missouri finished third on its home course, the Tigers’ best team finish since 2003. Congratulations to the Texas Longhorns — 2011 team champions — and Madison Pressel, 2011 individual champion. NCAA regional championship play begins May 5th.
